My teaching philosophy encompasses all that I have learned in the semester of teaching at USD. I believe that personal attention is more powerful than instruction when it comes to teaching composition. My strength as an educator lies in my ability to focus on exactly what my students need individually to grow as writers. It is my responsibility to lead them over the bridge without carrying them. I am very aware that my instruction serves my students better when I am helping them come to their own conclusions about writing rather than simply being their editor. The goal of an instructor is connection and ensuring that the student properly processes the knowledge I have to offer. All the sophisticated lesson plans in the world will not help someone grow as a writer
